Designated Outdoor Refreshment Areas in Stark County

Check out where in Stark County you can take your drinks outside and the unique businesses that are participating!

Stark County continues to add more Designated Outdoor Refreshment Areas, otherwise known as a DORA. The City of Massillon is joining Downtown Canton, Louisville, Canal Fulton, North Canton, Oakwood Square in Plain Township, Hall of Fame Village and Minerva in Stark County.

Downtown Canton

The Downtown Canton DORA took effect in June 2016 and offers nearly 69 acres of land with borders marked at 6th St N (north edge), McKinley Ave (west edge), 4th St S (south edge), and Walnut Ave (east edge). Try local favorites Conestoga Grill, Arcadia Grill, and George's Lounge. Or treat your tastebuds to something special from Fronimo's or Fromage du Monde. Enjoy strolling through Downtown Canton and take in all the art and historic points of interest. Stop by for a game at Milestone or Escape Room Downtown. Take a tour at one of the museums or catch a show at the historic Canton Palace Theatre. There is a lot to see in Downtown Canton as you explore with a drink in your hand.

Canal Fulton

The Canal Fulton DORA took effect in July 2020 and is in effect seven days a week from 12:00pm-12:00am. Take a timeout from canoeing, kayaking, biking, or walking along the Ohio & Erie Canalway Towpath Trail, and stop in at one of the five participating locations in the 3.72 acres DORA.

Louisville

The Louisville DORA took effect in September 2020 and is active Monday-Thursday from 4:00pm-9:00pm, Friday-Saturday from 12:00pm-11:00pm, and Sunday from 1:00pm-9:00pm. Within the DORA is one of Stark County's best photo ops, Umbrella Alley! Tucked just around the corner is UnHitched Brewing Co. which features spacious outdoor seating and a mural-coated exterior making it another great photo op. Scratch Steakhouse & Lounge and Grinders are also participants in the Louisville DORA and both offer a great casual dining experience.

North Canton

The North Canton DORA took effect in April 2021 and is open daily from 12:00PM-11:00PM. Take a stroll through the heart of North Canton with an adult milkshake in hand! That's right, take the whole family to Pav's Creamery and you can enjoy their delectable adult milkshakes, while the kids have their favorite homemade ice cream. The North Canton DORA stretches from Bachtel St SE to 11th St NW, roughly between El Rincon Mexican Restaurant to Mama Guzzardi's Italian Restaurant. Specialty cocktails can also be ordered from The Howlin Bird.

Oakwood Square Plaza - Plain Township

The Plain Township DORA took effect in May 2021 and covers the Oakwood Square Plaza and all the businesses within the plaza. Enjoy your favorite adult beverage in Oakwood Square during events at the Plain Township Amphitheater, shopping at Sidestreet MKTs, or just strolling and dining at the plaza. Enjoy craft beer from Royal Docks Brewing Company Foeder House or craft cocktails from The Bistro of Oakwood. You can never go wrong with a margarita from Tlaquepaque or enjoy a specialty craft cocktail from the longtime Canton favorite, John's Bar & Grille.

Minerva

The Minerva DORA took effect in May 2022 and is open only for special events in Minerva. Stretching the sidewalks of Market St the DORA has four participants and over fifteen local shops that allow drinks inside covering 1.76 acres in the village. Make sure you grab a photo with the Goddess of Minerva mural as you make your stops. Stopping into Sandy Springs Brewing Company is a must with great photo ops and tasty beers you don't want to miss this stop! Make your way to Que Pasa and enjoy some margaritas on the go. Don't miss out on sipping and shopping during the next special event!

Hall of Fame Village

Introduced in 2023, patrons can now walk around the Hall of Fame Village campus with an alcoholic beverage in hand. Whether you are spending the afternoon in Play Action Plaza or you are attending a concert in Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, there are a variety of options on campus where guests can enjoy drinks while walking around exploring the Village. Don Shula's American Kitchen has a vast selection of craft cocktails, wine, and bourbon, and enjoy craft beer from The Brew Kettle.

Massillon

Summer of 2024 you can now explore the City of Massillon with an adult beverage in hand. Explore businesses daily with the special hours of 4:00PM-Midnight Monday-Friday and 12:00PM-Midnight on Saturday & Saturdays. It's the perfect way to enjoy a special event, shop and learn more about the history of the City of Champions through public art. Enjoy beverages from local favorites and craft cocktails from Kozmo's Grille, Bender's Food & Spirits, Krackpots Comedy Club and Chloe's Diner. Craft beer enthusiasts can enjoy wide selections at local craft brewery Paradigm Shift and a selection of local brews on tap at Downtown by Hecks.

There are a few shared, important rules to keep in mind while enjoying the locations around Stark County that offer a DORA. Each DORA has a designated boundary or perimeter within which the alcoholic beverages must be kept, and the alcohol must be purchased at one of the participating businesses within the DORA. The beverage may be taken outside, but only in the designated cup provided when purchasing alcohol from a participating business. Alcohol from one participating location may be taken outside in the provided cup, but it may not be taken into another business selling or serving alcohol.
