Best Places to Get a Burger in Stark County

Sometimes, you’re just in the mood for a burger.

Trying to decide on the best place to get a good burger? Stark County restaurants have quite a variety to offer. By no means is this list supposed to rank the best burgers in Stark County - it just happens to be 11 of the author's favorites!

#1 George's Lounge

Head over to George’s Lounge in downtown Canton to try their burger of the month! Every month, the kitchen staff at George’s Lounge creates a unique burger masterpiece for you to try and has a naming contest on social media. There’s a new one every month, they are so unique, you will be coming back for more.

Insider's Tip: Go on a Wednesday for Burger Night; enjoy George's 59 Classic Burger & Fries for only $6 or $4 Off all Geormet Burger & Fries.

#2 John's Bar & Grill

John's Bar & Grill is a Canton classic since 1945. Not only known for their burgers, you can enjoy a juicy burger while your friends and family savor the best steaks, seafood, ribs, and specialty cocktails. Nothing goes better with a burger than an ice-cold beer; John's Bar & Grill prides itself on having a wide variety on tap of your favorite domestic and local craft beers.

Insider's Tip: Don't overlook the monthly specials menu when dining; seasonal burger creations are always impressive and tasteful. My favorite burger on the menu is the Grecian Lamb Burger with the homemade tzatziki.

#3 Cameo Grill

Cameo Grill in Massillon is a local favorite; the walls are adorned with local high school football powerhouse, Massillon Tigers, memorabilia and banners of support. Celebrating 80 years in business, they couldn't have had a better celebration, than with the Massillon Tigers winning the 2023 Division II OHSAA State Football Championship. Their burgers are truly built for a champion; the "Original" Cameo Burger is a 1-pound burger.

Insider's Tip: When asked what toppings you want on your burger; get the pepper! The pickled wax pepper elevates the sandwich; it truly is a taste that you can't get anywhere except Cameo Grill!

#4 3 Brothers Corner Tavern

This neighborhood hangout may only have three burgers on the menu, but they are worth the visit! Not only can you enjoy your burger made the way you want it, but you can also order with a gluten-free bun. On Thursday enjoy 3B Thursday; Get the All American Burger for just $10.

Insider's Tip: Don't overlook their Starting Line-Up Menu; my personal favorite is the Fighting Irish Pickles that pair well with a burger!

#5 UnHitched Brewing Company

Breweries often have great brews, but no other brewery in Stark County can compete when it comes to burgers than the Smashburger as UnHitched Brewing Company. Their take on the Smashburger has double patties, American cheese, shredduce, bread and butter pickles, caramelized onions, and then the secret UnHitched sauce. It's a must-try item on their menu!

Insider's Tip: Come hungry to UnHitched Brewing Company! With staples on their menu, there are always rotating specials that are must-try and pair well with whatever is on tap.

#6 Jerzee's Sports Grille

Start your day off with an MVP Burger topped with egg, bacon, and cheese, or switch things up and get a Quesadilla Burger with all the fixings inside a toasted tortilla bun. Jerzee's Spots Grille has three Stark County locations including Belden Village, Fulton Road near the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and Jerzee's Cafe located in Downtown Canton in Centennial Plaza.

Insider's Tip: Want to catch the big game? All three locations have every sporting event on their TV's, plus the BIG screen in Centennial Plaza at the Downtown Canton location!

#7 Chloe's Diner

Located in the heart of Downtown Massillon, this classic-inspired diner will transport you back in time. During your dining experience, you will be surrounded by classic cars, and memorabilia from the 50's, 60's and 70's and you will enjoy great food! Their take on sliders includes a single, double, and triple and is created with fresh ground beef, caramelized onions, dill pickles, kitchen, and mustard.

Insider's Tip: Of course, these sliders pair well with their handmade milkshakes and malts. My favorite is the Oreo Milkshake!

#8 Loby's Bar & Grill

This local hangout with two Stark County locations, makes you feel right at home with a variety of items on their menu. The Build-Your-Own burger is popular because not only can you pick your toppings and choice of cheese, but you can also choose from a half-pound ground beef patty, grilled chicken breast, ground turkey patty, or salmon patty. It really can be enjoyed by every palette!

Insider's Tip: Don't miss out on Burger Night on Wednesdays. Enjoy a $5 Build-Your-Own-Burger and fries with the purchase of a drink. Loby's on CLE usually has live music that night on the patio, so it's the perfect weeknight out!

#9 Gridiron Gastropub

Located on the Hall of Fame Village campus, Gridiron Gastropub is a top choice, with the one burger on their menu. The namesake Gridiron Burger is handcrafted for a champion's appetite!

Insider's Tip: Don't skip the dessert menu - the Peanut Butter Cremeaux and the Banana Bread Waffle are both super satisfying for those with a sweet tooth!

#10 Heggy's Nut Shop

When you step into this Canton classic, you are greeted with the aroma of freshly made candy and nuts, but make sure you come hungry. The Steakburgers on the menu have been made fresh daily since 1950 with fresh ground loins. With options from a double steakburger to a mushroom swissburger. If you like mayo (or even if you don't) make sure to dress up your sandwich with their homemade mayo!

Insider's Tip: Anywhere you go, a burger pairs well with fries, but there is nowhere better to get fries than Heggy's Nut Shop. Their buttered french fries are recognized within the Top 50 Best French Fries in the United States!

#11 Doug's Classic 57 Diner

This unique diner in Alliance has a wide variety of burgers that are must-try! You can try a basic hamburger with your choice of toppings or if you are really hungry you can try the King Kong Deluxe. This massive burger weighs almost 2 pounds total! It includes 2 - 1/3 lb. patties, ham, bacon, swiss, American and mozzarella cheese, plus "everything on it."

Insider's Tip: You can substitute JoJos with all burgers when you order in a basket. This Northeast Ohio classic is a thickly cut potato wedge, seasoned and deep fried.

Bonus Burger: Swensons Drive-In

Welcome to a Northeast Ohio favorite! Swensons is pretty much engrained as part of the culture of the area. The Galley Boy® is a fan favorite and is often referenced as "Americas Best Cheeseburger." Enjoy a burger at Swenson's at two Stark County locations; including Jackson Township and North Canton.

Insider's Tip: Perfect to satisfy those late-night cravings; Swensons locations are open until 1AM Sundays-Thursdays and 1:30AM on Fridays & Saturdays.
